Tinto Brass has a great reputation as an erotic film maker (and has a derriere fetish which is a big help in that genre) but this set of 8 films is very mixed and seems to have been compiled by a Brit or American producer in the belief that this is what an English speaking audience would want.
Sadly some of the humour of his films have been lost in this transformation--- 6 have been dubbed into English (sadly without English subtitles) while the other 2 films are in their original Italian audio with English subtitles.
You might argue that these are sex films so why do you need subtitles? Or dubbing? Personally I think Brass does have a lot more going for him in his films than frivolous sex (enjoyable though that can be) and some of the tone and flavour of his writings are lost here.
There is a spattering of British actors who appear in some of the films including the superb Frank Finlay who recently died after a long illustrious career.
Overall there are some interesting productions here with one or two which I wouldn't have included in a compilation of the director's work. It's all about personal taste I think.
So this box set is worthwhile in my opinion if you can get it cheaply enough.
